Gender E-library
UNDP is committed to support the capacity development of its national partners to adopt approaches that advance gender equality and gender mainstreaming and which takes into account the full range of their contributions to development. The progress of the global community towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by 2015, will not be possible without closing the gaps between women and men in terms of capacities, access to resources and opportunities, and vulnerability to violence and conflict.
Drawing on a vision in which human development guide all policy-making and development, UNDP supports national partners to accelerate their progress towards the MDGs by identifying and responding to the gender equality dimensions through programmes on poverty reduction, HIV/AIDS, good governance, crisis prevention and recovery and environment and sustainable development.
The Gender E-library is one of the UNDP Iran’s efforts to address the needs of national counterparts in having access to latest gender related documentation and resources in their national language (Farsi). The Gender E-library was established under the Global Gender Mainstreaming Initiative funded by Democratic Governance Thematic Trust Fund (DGTTF) and Gender Thematic Trust Fund (GTTF). The Gender E-library was launched in June 2009 and will continue to expand with contributions from UNDP and other UN agencies and institutions.
